Scott Triumphs at Silverstone With Euroformula Open Doubles

Harrison Scott and the RP Motorsport team returned to the track this weekend for rounds nine and 10 of the Euroformula Open at Silverstone Circuit after the summer break. To say that Harrison dominated proceedings over the three-day event is putting it mildly; the 21-year-old, from Althorne in Essex, secured both pole positions, race wins and a pair of fastest laps to considerably extend his points advantage at the top of the 2017 Drivers’ Championship table with only six rounds remaining.

Saturday morning’s cloudy sky had cleared to glorious blue by the time the 18-strong Euroformula Open field took to the track for first qualifying. Holding provisional pole with a time that was over a second faster than his closest rival, Harrison pitted for new tyres when the action was interrupted by a Red Flag midway through the session. Returning to the track he improved further on pace to set a 1:51.165 minute lap to reaffirm his pole position for race one.

The young British driver continued to produce some of the finest driving of his career in the afternoon, commanding his #10 RP Motorsport Dallara F312 charger, lighting up a host of purple sectors on the timing screens, to produce the fastest lap of the race (1:53.573) and a lights to flag win an impressive 14.5 seconds ahead of Devlin De Francesco (Carlin Motorsport).

Despite cooler, cloudy weather greeting the drivers early on Sunday morning, conditions did not dampen Harrison’s spirits during the second qualifying session of the weekend. His seventh pole position of the season (with a lap time of 1:51.880) led to a superbly controlled Euroformula Open Silverstone finale in the afternoon. Harrison confidently claimed another fastest lap accolade and his eighth race win, a full eleven seconds ahead of the competition, to extend his lead of the Drivers’ Championship by 102 points to 233.

The season continues at the iconic Circuito di Monza, Italy, on 30th September – 1st October 2017.
