Hat-trick of scholarship class wins for Harrison Scott

DRIVER NEWS 6 August, 2013 – Harrison Scott produced a hat-trick of Scholarship class wins

Harrison Scott produced a hat-trick of Scholarship class wins in the Dunlop MSA Formula FordHarrison Scott (GBR) Falcon Motorsport Formula Ford 200

Championship last weekend at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk.  These excellent race results moved
Harrison firmly into second place in the overall championship and extended his lead in the
scholarship class standings.

Over the weekend the 17-year-old Falcon Motorsport driver planned to consolidate his Championship position both overall and in the important Scholarship Class.  Harrison said “we qualified 2nd at Snetterton and were a bit surprised that the gap to pole position was larger than we hoped, we managed to get pole in the last race at Croft and tried our best to replicate this again but the gap was still there so our only hope of taking the lead was jumping the leader at the start”.

A very good start off the line in race one saw Harrison alongside the leader at the first corner but he needed to yield due to the fact that Dan Cammish had the inside line at turn one. That would prove to be the only challenge in race one and Harrison, running fast and consistent time through the race, finished 2nd overall and 1st in the scholarship class.

Race 2 was a completely different story which started by Harrison dropping to 4th place by the end of the first lap but he soon settled into his normal rhythm and started his fight back.  With a retirement one place ahead of him on lap 4 Harrison set his sights on Jayde Kruger who was in 2nd place. With 2 laps to go Harrison closed the three second gap and tried a move on the last corner but his Formula Ford Mygale was low on fuel and the engine misfired which cost any chance of a 2nd place finish. He finished in 3rd place overall after yet another very consistent fighting drive and took the Scholarship Class win.

The final race of the weekend was televised live on ITV4 and was pretty much the same as the first, starting from P2 and finishing 2nd which promoted Harrison to 2nd in the overall championship standings and extend his lead in the scholarship class.

Harrison commented “the team did a fantastic job all weekend, we consolidated 2nd place in the championship and made more progress with our car. We are all learning together and I feel a win is very close.  I’m now very confident in the car and while the learning curve is still steep for me I’m confident of improving my results even further.  As always my thanks must go to all team members at Falcon Motorsport, my driver coach Ollie Hancock and my manager Peter Fenichel”.

The next round is at Knockhill, Scotland on 24-25 August.
